Drivers who hold an eligible overseas heavy vehicle licence may be able to convert it to a New Zealand Class 5 licence, subject to NZTA requirements. The conversion process may include licence verification, assessment of driving experience, and completion of theory and/or practical driving tests.
Once converted, a Class 5 licence allows drivers to legally operate heavy combination vehicles with no weight limits, in accordance with vehicle design and road regulations.
